Our first assignment involved redesigning one out of five book covers, utilising one or more of the Gestalt principles we learned about during the course.

We were given four books to choose from, where my choice was Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

The cover was inspired by 19th century medical medical illustrations and follows the gestalt principles of proximity, closure, and figure-ground.
